Bottom line: The multi-stop Oregon Coast loop covers Cannon Beach, Tillamook Creamery, Cape Meares lighthouse, Astoria Column, the Goonies house, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and Fort Stevens on a 210-mile counter-clockwise day from Portland. 8-to-10-hour pacing. Cadillac Escalade ESV at $135 per hour is the standard family pick (the workhorse). Sprinter at $165 per hour for 8 to 14. S90 at $110 per hour for a couple. Long-haul 8-hour day-rate minimum. For the focused Cannon Beach booking, see PDX to Cannon Beach coastal day-trip. For the service-page anchor, see Portland to Oregon Coast chauffeur.

01The Loop Itself

210 Miles, US-26 West,
US-101, US-30 East Return.

The multi-stop Oregon Coast loop is a 210-mile round-trip from Portland on a counter-clockwise route. US-26 west from Portland to Cannon Beach (75 miles, 90 minutes), south on US-101 to Tillamook (50 miles, 60 minutes), Three Capes detour to Cape Meares (15 miles, 30 minutes), back to Tillamook for the Creamery (20 minutes), north on US-101 to Astoria (50 miles, 75 minutes), Astoria standing stops, return to Portland via US-30 east (95 miles, 105 minutes).

Total day fills 8 to 10 hours from an 8 a.m. pickup to a 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. drop. The pace flexes by the family-pick stops: skipping Cape Meares saves 60 minutes, adding Fort Stevens adds 45 minutes, adding the Three Capes Scenic Loop adds 90 minutes. For the existing Cannon Beach focused day-trip, see PDX to Cannon Beach coastal day-trip. For the service-page anchor, see Portland to Oregon Coast chauffeur.

Cadillac Escalade ESV Oregon Coast multi-stop chauffeur Tillamook Cape Meares Astoria Marquee
The Cadillac Escalade ESV at $135 per hour fits a family of six on the multi-stop Oregon Coast loop with cargo for picnic, Tillamook Creamery haul, and overnight bags if the trip extends to an Astoria stay.

02Tillamook

Creamery Factory Tour
And Cape Meares Lighthouse.

Tillamook is the mid-loop anchor on the multi-stop coast day. The Tillamook Creamery at 4165 N Highway 101 is the home of the Tillamook County Creamery Association cooperative dating to 1909. The visitor center holds a self-guided factory tour with overlooks of the cheese-making line, an ice cream shop, a cafe with grilled cheese sandwiches, and a retail shop with the full Tillamook product lineup.

The Cape Meares lighthouse 13 miles west via the Three Capes Scenic Loop is the easiest lighthouse stop on the loop. The 38-ft tower built 1890 sits on Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint with a paved 200-yard walk from the parking lot and the 800-year-old Octopus Tree (Sitka spruce with a candelabra trunk) 100 yards north. Public context at tillamook.com.

Tillamook Creamery factory tour

Self-guided factory tour with overlooks of the cheese-making line, ice cream shop, cafe, and retail. 45 to 75 minutes. Free admission. Lines run 30 to 60 minutes on summer weekends.

Cape Meares lighthouse

38-ft tower built 1890 on Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint. Paved 200-yard walk from the lot. Open daily May-Sept, weekends Oct-April. 30-minute standing visit.

The Octopus Tree

800-year-old Sitka spruce with a candelabra trunk 100 yards north of the lighthouse parking lot. The most-photographed tree on the Oregon coast. 10-minute photo stop.

Tillamook lunch options

Tillamook Creamery cafe at $10 to $20 per person serves grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and the in-house ice cream that draws every visitor. Pelican Brewing in Pacific City 15 miles south offers an oceanfront option with house IPA and pub fare at $20 to $35 per person. The Pacific Restaurant in downtown Tillamook serves Pacific Northwest fare at $20 to $35 per person for a longer sit-down lunch on the loop.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Oregon Coast multi-stop group chauffeur Marquee Astoria Column
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter at $165 per hour fits 8 to 14 across an extended family or corporate group on the multi-stop Oregon Coast day with overhead storage and captain's chair seating.

03Astoria

The Column, Goonies House,
Maritime Museum, Fort Stevens.

Astoria sits at the mouth of the Columbia River where it meets the Pacific. The standing day-trip stops: the Astoria Column (1926 Romanesque tower with a 164-step interior climb to a 360-degree view), the Goonies house drive-by on 38th Street (the 1985 Steven Spielberg film shot here), the Columbia River Maritime Museum on the riverfront, Fort Stevens State Park (WWII coastal defense, the wreck of the Peter Iredale on the beach), and the Astoria-Megler Bridge across to Washington (one of the longest steel-truss bridges in the world at 4 miles).

Standing visit fills 90 to 120 minutes for the Column climb, the Maritime Museum walkthrough, and the Goonies house drive-by. Adding Fort Stevens stretches the day to 12 hours total. The chauffeur drops at each curb and waits in the parking lot. For Astoria-anchored bookings, see the broader Portland to Oregon Coast chauffeur service page.

Astoria Column (1926)

Romanesque tower built 1926 by the Great Northern Railroad, designed by John Bennes. 125 ft tall with a 164-step interior spiral climb to a 360-degree view of the Columbia, the Pacific, the Astoria-Megler Bridge, and Mt St Helens on clear days. Sgraffito mural on the exterior tells the Lewis and Clark history. $5 parking, free entry. 30-minute standing visit including the climb.

The Goonies house drive-by

368 38th Street. Private home shown in the 1985 Spielberg film. The owner posts no-trespassing signage. The drive-by stops at the curb for a quick photo. 5-minute stop. No interior visit possible.

Columbia River Maritime Museum

Riverfront museum at 1792 Marine Drive. $14 admission. 75-minute walkthrough covers the Columbia River bar (the Graveyard of the Pacific), salmon fishing history, and the WWII naval base on the Columbia.

Fort Stevens State Park

WWII coastal defense, the only US mainland military installation fired on by enemy forces in WWII (June 1942). The wreck of the Peter Iredale on the beach. 60-minute standing visit. Adds 45 minutes to the loop.

The Volvo S90 at $110 per hour fits a couple or three riders on the multi-stop Oregon Coast day with the executive lower vehicle profile and trunk cargo.

04The Manifest

Vehicle Sizing For The
8-To-10-Hour Long-Haul Day.

The multi-stop coast loop is a long-haul day-trip outside the Portland metro and carries the 8-hour day-rate minimum on the standard hourly model. The Cadillac Escalade ESV at $135 per hour is the standard pick because the SUV cabin handles a family of six with picnic cargo, Tillamook Creamery cheese haul, and overnight bags if the trip extends to an Astoria stay. The Sprinter at $165 per hour fits 8 to 14 on the multi-family or corporate booking. The Volvo S90 at $110 per hour fits the executive couple.

The Escalade is the workhorse on the long-haul because the cargo handles the cheese haul on the return run and the cabin sits high enough for the kid-friendly view. The Sprinter is the multi-family pick on a Saturday with two coordinated families. The S90 is the lower-fuel-cost executive day. For pricing detail, see the Portland chauffeur pricing guide 2026.

Cadillac Escalade ESV ($135 per hour)

Workhorse on the loop. Family of five or six with car seats and strollers. 8-hour day rate $1,080. Cargo holds picnic, full Tillamook cheese haul, and overnight bags for an Astoria stay.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ($165 per hour)

Multi-family or corporate group. Fits 8 to 14 with captain's chairs and overhead storage. 8-hour day rate $1,320. Single-vehicle removes caravan question on the long-haul.

Volvo S90 ($110 per hour)

Executive couple or three riders. 8-hour day rate $880. Lower vehicle profile and fuel efficiency on the 210-mile loop. Best for solo executive or photographer day.

Held-vehicle hourly rate

Same chauffeur and vehicle from Portland pickup through Cannon Beach, Tillamook, Astoria, and the US-30 return. The held-vehicle rate covers every standing-stop wait curbside.

05Cannon Beach

The Loop Anchor,
Haystack Rock And Ecola.

Cannon Beach is the morning anchor on the multi-stop loop. The 235-ft Haystack Rock dominates the beach, with tide-pool access on the lowest tides for sea stars and anemones. Ecola State Park 2 miles north of the beach holds the headlands overlook with Tillamook Rock Lighthouse offshore (the historic 1881 lighthouse known as Terrible Tilly).

Standing visit at Cannon Beach runs 90 minutes for a Haystack Rock walk, an Ecola State Park overlook, and a coffee at Sleepy Monk or a pastry at the Cannon Beach Bakery. The chauffeur drops at the Tolovana Beach access or the downtown Cannon Beach core depending on tide and traffic. For the focused Cannon Beach single-day at 4 to 6 hours, see the existing PDX to Cannon Beach coastal day-trip.

Haystack Rock (235 ft)

235-ft sea stack with tide-pool access at the lowest tides. Marine Garden protected status. Tide-pool window runs 90 minutes around low tide. Best in May-July when low tides fall mid-day.

Ecola State Park

Headlands overlook 2 miles north of Cannon Beach. View of Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse offshore. 30-minute standing visit at the overlook lot.

Cannon Beach downtown

Sleepy Monk coffee, Cannon Beach Bakery, Bruce's Candy Kitchen, and the Cannon Beach galleries on Hemlock Street. Standard coffee or bakery stop on the morning anchor.

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse

Offshore historic lighthouse operated 1881-1957 on the basalt rock 1.2 miles offshore from Tillamook Head. Known as Terrible Tilly for the storm-battered construction history. Visible from Ecola State Park overlook on a clear day. Now privately owned as a columbarium. View-only stop on the loop with strong photo angle in afternoon light.

06The Pacing

8 A.M. Pickup To 5 P.M. Drop,
Counter-Clockwise Loop.

The standard counter-clockwise pacing fits an 8 a.m. pickup to a 5 p.m. drop window. 8 a.m. Portland pickup, 9:30 a.m. Cannon Beach (90 minutes for Haystack Rock and Ecola), 11 a.m. US-101 south to Tillamook (60 minutes), 12 noon Cape Meares lighthouse (45 minutes), 12:45 p.m. Tillamook Creamery lunch and tour (75 minutes), 2 p.m. US-101 north to Astoria (75 minutes), 3:15 p.m. Astoria Column and Maritime Museum (105 minutes), 5 p.m. US-30 east, 6:45 p.m. Portland drop.

The clockwise alternative reverses the loop with Astoria as the morning anchor and Cannon Beach as the afternoon stop. Best when a fishing-boat tour or maritime-museum opening fits a morning slot. Total day fills 9 to 10 hours either direction. For broader event coordination, see Portland event transportation.

8 a.m. Portland pickup

Hotel valet or home pickup at 8 a.m. avoids the 9 a.m. US-26 west traffic build. 90-minute drive lands at Cannon Beach by 9:30 a.m. for the morning low-tide window in summer months.

Tillamook lunch slot

12:45 p.m. arrival at Tillamook Creamery times the lunch and the cheese haul. Cape Meares immediately before keeps the Three Capes detour short. Pacific Restaurant in downtown Tillamook for a longer lunch.

Astoria afternoon

3:15 p.m. arrival at Astoria for the Column climb, Goonies drive-by, Maritime Museum, and an optional Fort Stevens add-on. Late-afternoon Columbia light from the Column makes a strong photo window.

US-30 east return

5 p.m. departure from Astoria east on US-30. Lower-traffic evening route along the Columbia. 6:45 p.m. Portland drop. Sunset window over the river makes the return drive scenic.

07Best Months

March-May Spring,
June-Aug Summer, Sept-Oct Shoulder.

March through October is the standard scenic window. March-May brings spring whale-watching at Cape Meares (gray whale migration peaks late March) with overcast lower-traffic weekdays. June-August brings summer warmth and the headline season, with crowds peaking July-August and the Tillamook Creamery line at 30-to-60-minute waits on summer weekends.

September-October brings the shoulder season with fewer crowds, fall light at Cape Meares, and the Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival in late April. November-February runs winter storm-watching at Cape Meares and Fort Stevens with high-energy surf. The loop runs year-round with weather reroutes on storm days. For winter storm-watching alternatives, the Pacific City storm-watching pattern at Pelican Brewing fits a different one-day booking.

March-May spring

Gray whale migration peaks late March at Cape Meares. Overcast lower-traffic weekdays. Tillamook Creamery quiet weekday mornings. Best month for serious bookings without summer crowds.

June-August summer

Headline season with warm weather. Cannon Beach crowds peak. Tillamook Creamery line 30 to 60 minutes on weekends. Book Tuesday or Wednesday for the lighter crowd day.

September-October shoulder

Fewer crowds, fall light at Cape Meares, and Indian summer warmth on the coast. Best photographer month with the lighter Tillamook Creamery line.

November-February storm

Winter storm-watching at Cape Meares and Fort Stevens. High-energy surf at Cannon Beach with 20-to-30-foot wave windows on the strongest storms. Heavy-rain reroutes happen 4 to 6 days per season when wind shuts down US-101. Pacific City Pelican Brewing storm-watch pattern works on most winter days with the cabin warmth between stops.

08Lunch And Dinner

Tillamook, Cannon Beach,
Astoria Riverfront.

Three lunch options fold into the loop. Tillamook Creamery cafe ($10 to $20 per person, grilled cheese and ice cream, kid-friendly). Cannon Beach lunch at the Wayfarer Restaurant or Pelican Brewing on the beach ($20 to $40 per person, ocean view). Astoria riverfront lunch or dinner at Bowpicker Fish and Chips, Buoy Beer Company, Fort George Brewery, or the Bridgewater Bistro.

The standard counter-clockwise pacing works with the Tillamook Creamery cafe at 12:45 p.m. Adding an Astoria dinner at 5 p.m. pushes the day to 12 hours. The held-vehicle hourly rate covers the meal wait curbside. For the broader Cannon Beach evening pattern, see Cannon Beach town car service.

Tillamook Creamery cafe

Grilled cheese, ice cream, mac and cheese. $10 to $20 per person. Kid-friendly. 60-minute lunch on the held-vehicle rate. Standard mid-loop break.
