01The Three Resorts

Mt Hood Meadows, Timberline,
And Skibowl.

Three resorts cover the Mt Hood ski day. Mt Hood Meadows on the southeast side runs the largest area (2,150 acres, 11 lifts, 2,777 ft of vertical drop) with the deepest expert terrain on the mountain. Timberline Lodge on the southwest slope runs 1,415 acres with the historic 1937 lodge as the lodge base, and the only lift-served summer skiing in North America at the Palmer Snowfield. Skibowl on the south side closest to Portland runs 960 acres with night skiing under lights and the lowest base elevation.

The choice depends on the skier profile and the day window. Meadows for serious skiers and full-day groups. Timberline for visitor concierge and summer camps. Skibowl for after-work runs and lower-cost family Saturdays. The chauffeur pattern works the same at all three. For the service-page anchor, see Portland to Mt Hood chauffeur. Resort conditions update at skihood.com, timberlinelodge.com, and skibowl.com.

2,150 acres, 11 lifts, 2,777 ft vertical drop. Largest area on the mountain. Heather Canyon's expert terrain is the headliner. North Lodge curb at the main entry. 67 miles east of Portland on US-26 and OR-35.

Timberline Lodge

1,415 acres on the southwest slope. The 1937 WPA lodge as the base. Palmer Snowfield runs year-round skiing on lifts June-August. 62 miles east of Portland on US-26 and Timberline Road.

02The Drop-And-Loop

Lodge Curb Drop, Government Camp
Staging, Same-Curb Pickup.

The chauffeur pulls up to the main lodge entry at Mt Hood Meadows (the North Lodge curb), Timberline (the lodge valet circle), or Skibowl (the East lodge drop). The party offloads ski gear, boots, and helmets at the curb. The chauffeur then clears to the resort holding lot or to the Government Camp village staging point depending on the day. Pickup runs the same curb on the party's text, typically 3:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. when lifts close.

The held-vehicle hourly rate covers the wait at the holding lot across the full ski day from a 7 a.m. Portland pickup to a 5 p.m. drop. The Government Camp staging point sits 6 miles below Timberline and 4 miles below Skibowl with chauffeur-friendly parking at the Skibowl East Lot, the Glacier Haus, or the Mt Hood Cultural Center. Radius keeps the return at 15 minutes from any of the three resorts. For booking, see book Portland chauffeur service.

7 a.m. Portland pickup

Standard pickup window from a Portland home or hotel block. Hotel valet pickup at 7 a.m. lands the party at the lodge curb by 8:30 a.m. for an early-lift run. 6:30 a.m. pickup for an opening-bell first chair if conditions favor.

Lodge curb drop

Mt Hood Meadows North Lodge curb, Timberline lodge valet circle, or Skibowl East Lodge drop. Chauffeur helps with gear offload and confirms pickup time. 5 minutes total at the curb.

Government Camp staging

Skibowl East Lot, Glacier Haus parking, or Mt Hood Cultural Center lot. Chauffeur holds for the day on the held-vehicle hourly rate. Lunch at the village fits in. 15-minute return to any of the three resorts.

3:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. pickup

Lift-close pickup at the same lodge curb on the party's text. Cabin runs warm with bottled water and dry seats. 90-minute return to Portland on US-26 west, lands at home or hotel by 5 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.

03Chain Protocol

ODOT R-1, R-2, R-3
On US-26 East Of Government Camp.

ODOT posts traction tire and chain requirements (R-1, R-2, R-3) on US-26 east of Government Camp from approximately November through April. R-1 requires traction tires, R-2 requires chains for non-traction-tire vehicles, R-3 requires chains for all vehicles including 4WD. The Marquee Sprinter, Escalade, and S90 all run studless winter traction tires Nov-Apr, which clears most R-1 and many R-2 conditions on US-26.

On heavy R-2 days the chauffeur fits chains on the front axle at the chain-up turnout near Welches before the climb. On R-3 closure days the resorts close to public access and the day reschedules without penalty. Dispatch checks the live ODOT TripCheck conditions feed at tripcheck.com before the chauffeur leaves Portland and reroutes if conditions are unworkable.

R-1 traction tires

R-1 requires traction tires (M+S rated). Marquee fleet runs studless winter traction tires Nov-Apr that clear R-1 on every ski day. No reroute or chain-up needed. Most-common condition on US-26 from Sandy east.

R-2 chains for some

R-2 requires chains for non-traction-tire vehicles. Marquee winter traction tires clear most R-2 conditions. On heavy R-2 the chauffeur fits chains on the front axle at the Welches chain-up turnout. 10-minute chain fit, 5-mph chain-zone speed.

R-3 chains for all

R-3 requires chains on all vehicles including 4WD. Most ski-resort openings close to public access at R-3. The day reschedules without penalty. Dispatch reroutes to a Skibowl half-day at lower elevation if Skibowl stays open.

Sno-Park permits

Sno-Park permits required at Government Camp village lots, Trillium Lake, and most US Forest Service lots Dec-March. Resort lots are exempt with a same-day lift ticket. Marquee dispatch confirms the permit need at booking.

The Volvo S90 at $110 per hour fits a couple on the Mt Hood ski day with trunk cargo for 2 full sets of ski gear plus a roof box on the held-vehicle hourly rate.

04The Manifest

Vehicle Sizing For
The Ski-Day Booking.

Three vehicles fit the ski-day. The Sprinter at $165 per hour is the standard for groups of 4 or more because the cargo holds skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, and outerwear. The Escalade ESV at $135 per hour fits a family of 4 with full ski gear and a roof box. The Volvo S90 at $110 per hour fits a couple with trunk cargo for 2 full sets of ski gear plus a roof box for the second pair.

Long-haul ski-day bookings carry the 8-hour day-rate minimum on the standard hourly model. Sprinter $1,320, Escalade $1,080, Volvo S90 $880 for a full ski day from a 7 a.m. pickup to a 5 p.m. drop. For pricing detail, see the Portland chauffeur pricing guide 2026.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ($165 per hour)

Standard ski-day vehicle. Fits 8 to 14 skiers with full gear cargo. Captain's chairs, overhead storage. Stand-up gear locker behind the rear bench. 8-hour day rate $1,320. Best for camps and corporate ski days.

Cadillac Escalade ESV ($135 per hour)

Family of 4 with full ski gear. Cargo holds 4 ski bags or 4 snowboards plus boot bags. Roof box add-on holds the longest pairs. 8-hour day rate $1,080. Best for family Saturday or visitor concierge.

Volvo S90 ($110 per hour)

Couple ski-day. Trunk fits 2 full sets of ski gear plus boots and helmets. Roof box add-on for the second set. 8-hour day rate $880. Best for couples or solo visitor on a Skibowl half-day.

Held-vehicle hourly rate

Same chauffeur and vehicle from the Portland pickup through the lodge drop, Government Camp staging, and après-ski pickup. The held-vehicle rate covers the chauffeur wait at the village across the ski day.

05Gear Cargo

Skis, Snowboards, Boots,
Helmets, Outerwear.

Ski-gear cargo discipline is the part most riders don't think about until the gear pile gets unwieldy. The Sprinter cargo holds skis or snowboards in the rear gear locker, boots in the under-seat storage, helmets and outerwear in the overhead bins. The Escalade cargo holds 4 ski bags or 4 snowboards plus boot bags, with a roof box add-on for the longest skis. The S90 trunk fits 2 full sets of gear, with a roof box for the second pair.

Bag tags and ski straps make every offload fast at the lodge curb. Marquee staging at the Portland pickup includes a 5-minute gear-load window with the chauffeur helping to organize bags. Same protocol applies on the lodge drop and the après-ski pickup. For corporate ski-camp bookings with multi-day gear holds, see how to book corporate chauffeur Portland.

Skis and snowboards

Sprinter rear gear locker holds 8 to 14 ski bags or snowboards. Escalade cargo holds 4 ski bags or 4 snowboards. Roof box adds capacity for longer skis. Ski straps keep pairs bundled.

Boots and helmets

Boot bags fit in under-seat storage on the Sprinter. Escalade boot bags ride in the cargo with the skis. S90 boot bags ride in the back seat or trunk. Helmets in overhead bins or seat-side pockets.

Outerwear and gloves

Outerwear stays in the cabin during the drive for the warm pickup window. Gloves in the seat-side pockets. The chauffeur cabin runs at the rider's preferred temperature with bottled water for the morning hydration.

Bag tags and protocol

Marquee provides bag tags on group bookings to track gear at the lodge curb. The chauffeur helps with offload and confirms the pickup count on the morning drop. 5-minute curb window per drop.

06The Multi-Resort Day

Meadows Morning, Timberline
Afternoon On One Booking.

The multi-resort day is a longer 11-hour booking that combines two of the three Mt Hood resorts on a single coordinated booking. Standard pattern: 7 a.m. pickup in Portland, 8:30 a.m. drop at Mt Hood Meadows for a 3-hour morning ski, 12 noon transit to Timberline (15 minutes via OR-35 south to US-26 west), 1 p.m. lunch and afternoon ski, 4:30 p.m. pickup, 6 p.m. drop in Portland.

The Sprinter is the best fit because the gear cargo and captain's chair seating allow 8 to 14 skiers on a single coordinated booking. Skibowl-Timberline pairings work on a half-day plus full-day combo. Skibowl-Meadows works for a Skibowl morning then Meadows afternoon for advanced skiers. Total day runs 11 hours on the held-vehicle hourly rate at $165 per hour, which lands $1,815 plus 20 percent gratuity for the Sprinter on the multi-resort booking.

Meadows-Timberline pairing

Mt Hood Meadows morning (3 hours) and Timberline afternoon (3 hours). 15-minute transit via OR-35 south to US-26 west. Lunch at the Timberline Cascade Dining Room or Ram's Head Bar. The most popular multi-resort day.

Skibowl-Meadows pairing

Skibowl morning at lower elevation (warmer base) then Meadows afternoon for the deeper terrain. 30-minute transit. Best for groups with mixed-ability skiers, where Skibowl trains the beginners and Meadows challenges the experts.

Timberline-Skibowl night

Timberline morning, Skibowl night skiing under lights from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. 13-hour booking. Best for ski-camp coaches and serious snowboarders. Cabin warmth between sessions essential.

Mt Hood Super Pass

The Mt Hood Super Pass at $399 covers all three resorts season-long. Pairs naturally with multi-resort chauffeur days. Most multi-resort bookings carry Super Pass holders.

07Summer Palmer

June Through August
Year-Round Lift-Served Skiing.

Timberline operates the Palmer Snowfield ski area June through August for the only year-round lift-served skiing in North America. Summer ski camps include the US Ski Team development camps, Mt Hood Snowboard Camps, World Wide Camp, and High Cascade Snowboard Camp, all running from late June through mid-August. Camp days run 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the snowfield with afternoons free.

The chauffeur pattern matches winter ski-day with a 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. pickup, US-26 east drop at the Timberline lodge by 8:30 a.m., chauffeur clears to Government Camp for the day, and 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. après-camp pickup. Many camps use the Sprinter for daily camp transport across the 5-to-10-day camp window. Coordinator bookings get a single chauffeur assigned across the full camp. For sibling scenic context on the same corridor, see Mt Hood scenic drive.

US Ski Team camps

Development camps for junior and senior US Ski Team athletes run late June through mid-August. Daily camp transport from a Government Camp camp lodging block to the Timberline Palmer lift base. Sprinter is the standard.

Camp pickup pattern

6 a.m. or 6:30 a.m. pickup at the Government Camp lodging, 7:30 a.m. arrival at Palmer base. Camp runs 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the snow. 1 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. après-camp pickup. Same chauffeur on the held-vehicle rate.

Portland-based camp days

Camps without on-mountain lodging book day-trip pickups from Portland. 5 a.m. pickup, 8 a.m. Palmer arrival, 1 p.m. après-camp pickup, 3 p.m. Portland drop. 10-hour day on the Sprinter at $1,650.

08Après-Ski Lunch

Government Camp,
Hood River, Welches.

Standard après-ski pattern is a 3:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. lift-close pickup at the lodge curb, then a Government Camp village stop, a Hood River brewery stop, or a direct Portland return. The held-vehicle hourly rate covers the lunch wait curbside. A 60-minute Government Camp lunch fits the day. A 90-minute Hood River detour adds OR-35 north to the route.

Government Camp options: Glacier Haus Bistro, Charlie's Mountain View, Mt Hood Brewing Company, Ratskeller Alpine Cafe. Hood River options: Pfriem Family Brewers, Solstice Wood Fire Pizza, Double Mountain Brewery. Welches options: Altitude Restaurant at Mt Hood Resort, Trillium Cafe & Coffee Bar. 09Compliance

Oregon PUC, $1M Liability,
35-Point Pre-Trip.

Marquee Chauffeur is licensed by Oregon PUC since 2018, operates with $1 million in commercial liability coverage, and runs a 35-point pre-trip inspection on every vehicle before the first booking each day. Winter pre-trip adds a chain-readiness check, a wiper-and-defrost check, and a tire-pressure check at the cold morning baseline (all of which matter most on the Mt Hood ski-day climb).

For corporate ski-camp bookings with vendor-credentialing requirements, the Marquee certificate of insurance clears most US Ski Team and ski-camp risk-desk reviews. For corporate onboarding, see how to book corporate chauffeur Portland. Dispatch is at (503) 706-8662 24/7 for ski-day reschedules on weather closures.

Oregon PUC license

Marquee holds the Oregon PUC chauffeur authority since 2018. Authority covers commercial passenger transport across Oregon including the Mt Hood ski-day corridor.

$1M commercial liability

Every Marquee vehicle carries $1 million in commercial liability coverage that extends to every ride regardless of trip status. Coverage applies on the ski-day from the Portland pickup through the lodge drop and the après-ski return.

35-point pre-trip plus winter

Standard 35-point inspection adds a chain-readiness check, wiper and defrost check, and cold-baseline tire pressure check on Nov-Apr ski-day bookings. Pre-trip discipline matters most on the high-pass climb.

Same-day reschedule

ODOT R-3 closure days reschedule without penalty. Dispatch at (503) 706-8662 24/7 handles the reroute. The held-vehicle rate carries to the rescheduled day.

10Who Books This

Family Ski-Day, Group Camps,
Visitor Concierge, Corporate.

Five rider profiles fit the Mt Hood ski-day chauffeur run. Family ski-day with parents, kids, and grandparents who don't want the chain-up driving on US-26. For booking, see book Portland chauffeur service. For broader winter event coordination, see Portland event transportation.
